Climbing into quieter places

Monastery Days

Altitude acclimatisation, rocky descents, prayer halls, long climbs and an overnight stay at Thupten Chorling Monastery.

The monastery days sit between the trail centre and the high adventure: harder, quieter, more spiritual and occasionally very questionable on a bike.

Monastery days

Two pages may eventually make sense here, but this placeholder gives us one combined section for now.

Climbing into quieter places

The monastery rides sit between the trail-centre fun of Phaplu and the bigger adventure of Pikey Peak: a chance to acclimatise, test the climbing legs, visit monasteries and descend rough walking tracks that were not exactly designed with mountain bikes in mind.

“Beautiful, spiritual, and occasionally a terrible idea on a bike.”
